What do you want your health for?

By: Mary Edwards- Zucchino

What do you want your health for? Take a moment and think about this question. It is important to know why we want to be healthy, because once we understand why our health is important to us, we are better able to get through the how. You know -the how. The actual action we take to regain or maintain our health - the "going to the gym and working up a sweat" how, or the "not having a piece of chocolate cake" how.

The how of health can often feel challenging and difficult to maintain. However, if we are focused on why we want our health, we are more often motivated to continue with the how. Your why could be as simple as the desire to fit into your wedding gown, or your why could be that you desire to have the energy and strength to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Integrative health coaching is designed to guide you on the journey of discovering your why, so that you are better able to embrace your how. If you find yourself struggling to meet a health goal, I invite to try an integrative health coaching session. Find your why- embrace your how!

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters, By: Portia Nelson

I walk down the street.

There's a deep hole in the sidewalk

I fall in.

I am lost... I am helpless.

It isn't my fault.

It takes me forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I pretend I don't see it.

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place

but, it isn't my fault.

It still takes a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it is there.

I still fall in...it's a habit.

My eyes are open.

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

I walk down another street.

I love the raw honesty of this poem. Wouldn't it be grand if we could all jump immediately to "chapter 5" and " walk down another street"? Are you struggling to make change on your current path? Do you feel it is time to walk down a new path? You are the reason I created Embrace Wellness. I'm here to guide you toward a new path. Let's start the journey, let's begin...
